Nowadays, having an external SSD is very useful for almost everyone, whether to have backup copies of data and files, to carry multimedia content or simply to download memory from a camera, for example. In these cases, when using an external SSD as something truly portable, having a separate cable can be inconvenient, both because it can break or be lost, so ADATA has presented the new SC740the first external SSD of the world that integrates the USB-C cable in the body of the device itself.
As is almost always the case when a device incorporates a new feature, it has its pros and cons. The pros of integrating the cable into the device itself are obvious and we have already told you about them: you don’t lose it and it is more difficult for it to break. However, it also has its bad part and that is that, without going any further, you have the cable there “bothering” the SSD all the time. But hey, let’s see what this new bet from ADATA offers us.
ADATA SC740, an external SSD without accessories
We live in the digital age, in which we generate an enormous amount of files of all types, but especially multimedia, and videos and photos, which are increasingly of higher quality, take up more space. For this reason, the use of external SSDs and especially USB-C has become very widespread because, among other things, they allow, for example, downloading photos and videos from smartphones directly, without having to first copy them to a PC. Of course, this is one of the capabilities of the new ADATA SC740, which the manufacturer declares compatible with iPhone 15 and subsequent models.
As you can see in the images, the ADATA SC740 has the USB-C cable integrated into the body of the device, allowing you to always use it without having to search for a cable. The cable is flat to make it less bulky, and it has a hook on the body so that, since you have the cable “bothering” there as we said before, you can use it as if it were a hook to hang the SSD from somewhere.
According to ADATA, as a good external SSD it is designed to last, and in this case the SC740 complies with the military standard MIL-STD-810G 516.6 against impacts (specifically, this test ensures that nothing will happen to the SSD in drops of 1.22 meters). height).
In more technical terms, this external SSD offers speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s reading and 1,000 MB/s writing, taking advantage of the enormous speed offered by the new USB standards. It is compatible with PC, Mac, mobile devices and latest generation game consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series
ADATA has already listed it on their website in capacities of 500GB, 1TB and 2TB, but they have not said anything about the price for now. Oh, and it will only be available in the blue color that you can see in the images.
