Since last September 16, all compatible iPhones can now be updated to iOS 18 and many users already have it. There are all kinds of opinions, from some very positive to others that are not so positive. Today we bring them together so that you know if it is worth getting the new update from Apple now or wait a bit.
The American brand promises big changes with iOS 18, among which the customization of application icons and the possibility of organizing them on the home screen, in addition to other new features, stands out. A priori it is an important update that should not be missing from your iPhone, although it always possible errors must be taken into account of optimization or operation that arise unexpectedly and for which you may have to wait a little before downloading and installing iOS 18.
Opinions on iOS 18
To collect opinions about iOS 18 we have gone to the reviews that users of the update are leaving in forums and platforms like Reddit. Already There are many who have updated their iPhone to iOS 18more than usual as we have seen, which means that the general rating of the Apple community is quite good, as can be seen with the following user opinions:
‘There aren’t many new features, but they are very welcome, such as the bilingual keyboard and improved photo search. Plus, being able to do accounts easily everywhere is crazy and super useful.
I have an iPhone 11 and I was suffering from keyboard freezing a lot in iOS 17. Now, although the keyboard can lag sometimes, it never freezes.
So for me iOS 18 is better than iOS 17. But I haven’t faced any major bugs, just minor ones like video playback in Photos app sometimes can’t go beyond 1 second’.
‘If anything, iOS 18 has fixed some issues I had with my 15 Pro. I find typing/autocorrect accuracy noticeably improved, and RCS support has significantly improved my messaging with friends who have Android phones. I’m not a fan of the new Photos app, it seems like a step forward (real categories for screenshots, etc.) but two steps back (video controls are worse).’
These two opinions of iOS 18 make it clear that even older iPhones benefit from the update’s performance improvement. The freezes have disappeared, many bugs have been fixed and there are fewer problems than with iOS 17 at its launch. However, there are also users whose experience has not been so good and who not only are they suffering from errorsbut the new features that have been included do not convince them:
‘I was looking forward to the ability to place icons anywhere on the home screen, but it’s horribly implemented. If you try to move an icon to an open spot on your home screen that’s above where it currently is, it moves and completely clutters all your other icons. It’s almost like they’re using invisible spacers in the background.’
‘There are almost no bugs, except that the keyboard sometimes lags for a second. And the control center sometimes takes longer to appear after swiping. The battery is definitely a little worse for me, but not by much.
People hate the Photos app and I agree with them, although it can be done a little better by scrolling all the way down, where you have the option to customize the way it looks.’
There is a lot of disparity in opinions about iOS 18 and its new features, but the vast majority who have updated their iPhone affirm that there are hardly any malfunctions, which is very appreciated. The battery needs a little optimization with the new version and that is why at first it may feel like it lasts less. On this occasion there is no reason why it is worth waiting for a next version, since iOS 18 looks like a good update although some of its new features may not convince you. If you want to wait at most for iOS 18.1, you can do so quietly to enjoy the great news of the update: Apple Intelligence.
