Many of today’s games have requirements that not all computers can meet, meaning that in order for many people to be able to play a recent title, they have to choose to optimize all the graphical options as much as possible along with the hardware. Technologies that offer rescaling along with frame generation are a solution that the main companies have developed to be able to play optimally, although the problem is that they are not available in all games, making applications such as Lossless Scaling have great value among users, and even more so now that they have launched the new LSFG 3.
Lossless Scaling is an application that we can find on Steam and that offers a series of advantages that allow us to improve the performance of the games, this software allows us to use various rescaling technologies for our games, while also offering the ability to add frame generation to any qualification. This makes it perfect for those people who cannot take advantage of NVIDIA’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR, either because they do not have a compatible graphics card or for the simple reason that the specific game they want to use does not include it.
An anniversary update that brings great news
Lossless Scaling has just received a really important update, this software that allows you to add the various technologies that allow you to improve the FPS within a game to any title even if it is not compatible now allows you to use LSFG 3. This new version of Lossless Scaling Frame Generation offers users the ability to configure their own frame generation multipliers, as well as incorporating a series of changes that benefit both the clarity and fluidity of image movement.
In this new version, both flickering and edge artifacts have been reduced, while the GPU load has been reduced by 40% compared to the previous version, LSFG 2 with x2 multiplier, while those that are Above this they have been reduced by 45%. Furthermore, one of the strong points that this version brings is the latency it offers, being 24% lower than what LSFG 2 had, generally improving the performance offered by the application.
All this allows the user to configure the generation of frames in a way that does not seem so strange, polishing the visualization along with the performance and also implementing a new custom multiplier that can go up to x20. In this regard, the developer indicates that it is better to make certain adjustments so that it works as necessary:
- A minimum of 30 FPS is required (40 FPS recommended and 60 FPS ideal) at 1080p.
- It is recommended to lock the game frame rate to avoid 100% GPU load.
For higher resolutions, the necessary adjustments that must be made in the “Resolution Scale” option are the following:
- For 1440p, set it to 75%.
- For 4K, set it to 50%.
Higher multipliers (e.g. X5 or higher) are more suitable for high refresh rate settings, such as:
- 48 FPS × X5 for 240 Hz.
- 60 FPS × X6 for 360 Hz.
- 60 FPS × X8 for 480 Hz.
