We have already talked several times about this processor and what it has meant for the market. It is almost an object of desire for a large number of users, and in the first days since it went on sale we could see that its price rose constantly until it was practically double its original price. They call it the law of supply and demand, although we would give it another name that, honestly, wouldn’t look too elegant in an article like this.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D sales statistics
Many times we have told you about sales statistics from the German wholesaler Mindfactory. These are statistics that obviously only concern a certain portion of the population and European countries, but this wholesaler is so large that right now there is no better starting point to take references (which is why we usually use it for this, of course). ). Now, it has revealed exactly what we told you in the headline, that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D alone has sold more units than all the other Ryzen 9000 processors combined.
Although it arrived on the market a little late, AMD’s 9800X3D has sold 8,650 units at this wholesaler. For comparison, the entire Ryzen 9000 range without . Almost double. These figures also leave us with another interesting fact, and that is that as expected, it is the mid-range that is taking the lead, since the Ryzen 7 are the processors that AMD currently sells the most.
Of course, now a trademark fact: although the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is selling like hotcakes despite its high price, its sales level is below its predecessor. It is true that it has been on the market for a short time and that there has also been a lack of stock, but the previous generation Ryzen 7 7800X3D has sold 78,420 units at this same wholesaler.
There are new X3D models on the horizon
In any case, it must be taken into account that this is the only X3D processor of the current generation that AMD has put on the market, and as expected the manufacturer in red will put more models in stores in the coming weeks. At the very least, the launch of the six-core Ryzen 5 9600X3D is planned along with the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X3D and the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which should arrive at the end of this month of January.
Based on sales data from the previous generation of AMD processors, in which the most expensive processor models with more cores had a much lower adoption rate than the mid-range and upper-midrange ones, it is possible that these new processors face a similar sales dynamic, where we personally think that the Ryzen 5 9600X3D will be the one that sells the best.
Of course, and we repeat, all this data comes from Mindfactory, which is nothing more than a huge wholesaler but really only represents a small part of the market share.
