The gaming label is often used by manufacturers with enormous lightness, losing its essence quite a bit. The memory manufacturer Patritot just announced their new memory cards microSD Viper Gaming Series V30 A2. These microSD cards are focused on the Nintendo Switch portable console and, apart from this, the truth is that they are nothing special either.
As you probably know, the only way to expand the capacity of the Nintendo Switch is to install microSD memories. We can find a wide variety of solutions in the market for this type of memory for the Japanese company’s console.
Due to the popularity of the Switch, many manufacturers create specific solutions for this popular portable console. Some, with license, offer memories that have some of the mythical characters from the brand’s most important sagas printed on them.
Patriot announces its “gaming” microSD for the Nintendo Switch
The manufacturer Patriot has traditionally focused on SSD storage units and RAM memories. It offers fairly good quality products at a fair price. Looking to expand, it has just launched its first microSD cards focused on gaming on the market.
Specifically, it launches the Viper Gaming Series V30 A2 microSD, which indicates that they are focused entirely on gaming. These memory cards start from the 128GB until the 1TB of capacity. It stands out that with these memories we can expand the game library or store high-resolution screenshots, among others.
It indicates that these memories are based on the latest standards, such as U3, Class 10, A2, V30 and UHS-I. This gibberish of memory card acronyms essentially tells us the capabilities it offers. According to Patriot, these memories offer speeds of reading from up to 100MB/s and speeds of writing from up to 90MB/s.
Patritot highlights that thanks to using this cutting-edge technology they manage to offer these “exceptional” reading and writing speeds. The truth is that there are many microSD memories on the market that offer this performance or better.
You must know that the UHS-I memories can offer a maximum transfer speed of up to 104 MB/s. We have on the market the UHS-II what they can offer up to 312 MB/s transfer. Come on, what exceptional speeds they are not, rather, they are quite normal. It is true that UHS-II are much more expensive.
The manufacturer indicates that these memories are not only compatible with the Nintendo Switch, but also with other consoles such as the Steam Deck or ASUS RoG Ally. As it cannot be otherwise, we can also use it on smartphones or tablets, according to our needs.
The Viper Gaming V30 A2 memories support video recording in Full HD (1920 x 1080), 4KUHD (3840 x 2160) and 4K (4096 x 2160) resolutions. It is fine if we want to record a game or use it on the smartphone to store the photos and videos that we can record.
Unfortunately, Patriot has not revealed the price or release date of these new microSD cards. We expect more or less affordable prices, around 15-20 euros for the 128 GB memory and up to 60-70 euros for the 1 TB capacity model.
