Now you can change the EXPO profile of your RAM without restarting the PC

AMD continues to evolve and improve its systems, and now one of those updates has arrived that is really useful. The new version of its configuration, monitoring and diagnostic software, AMD Ryzen Masterhas been updated and now allows you to modify the EXPO profile of RAM without even having to restart the PC.

As most of you will already know, modern RAM memories operate at the minimum speed for which they have been manufactured, generally dictated by JEDEC. However, practically all of them incorporate what are known as XMP profiles in the case of Intel and EXPO in the case of AMD, profiles that make (literally) overclock automatic to the memory so that it runs at its maximum speed, which is the speed advertised by manufacturers.

AMD Ryzen Master now gets along with EXPO profile

Actually, activating and deactivating the EXPO (or XMP) profile of RAM is as simple as entering the BIOS and enabling or disabling the parameter; On modern motherboards, you don’t even have to go into the advanced settings, it’s something you usually have in the basic settings that are displayed as soon as you enter the BIOS and that you can change with two mouse clicks. However, at the end of the day this means having to enter the BIOS, and being able to do it from the operating system without having to restart is something that looks very good, really.

As we said, AMD has updated its Ryzen Master tool so that now users can activate and deactivate the EXPO profile of the RAM memory with two clicks, but directly from the application, without having to go into the BIOS and without even having to Restart the PC for the change to take effect. In fact, this latest update also includes some additional configuration options for the RAM, allowing more precise adjustments to its parameters also without having to enter the BIOS.

The new version of AMD software also brings other new features under its belt. For example, it improves compatibility with Ryzen 9000 processors and introduces a 105W “ECO mode.” And be careful because this mode is not only for 120W TDP processors, but also applies to 65W ones, offering greater performance capacity for lower consumption processors, and better energy efficiency for more powerful processors.

Other improvements in this new version include new features such as detailed P-state information in the main application view, improvements to the IRM control mode that allow adjustment of the three PBO parameters of the processor, finer adjustments to the clock speed with increments of 5 by 5 MHz, and an annoying advertising banner that was within the application has been eliminated.

AMD Ryzen Master

The improvements are quite notable, useful and interesting, but this version also has some disadvantages, such as the elimination of support for Zen and Zen+ Threadripper processors and for the first and second generation Ryzen (1000 and 2000 series). But hey, don’t worry if you have one of these processors because AMD is going to continue offering the previous version, although yes, it will no longer be updated.

If you want to try this new version, you can download it from the AMD website.
