OnePlus itself has made it official that the latest update for its smartphones will make its appearance for the first time on October 24ththat is, on Thursday of next week, taking place live through the brand’s different channels at 12:00. This will be the day that will reveal OxygenOS 15 to the world and who knows if we will see the first compatible OnePlus phones with the version. Until then we only have to rely on the information provided by the Asian company and our own wishes. Will it meet expectations?
OxygenOS 15 must be like this to succeed
We have already talked on numerous occasions that OxygenOS lost its essence for different reasons that have led it to be just another layer of Android, of the bunch. The new update OxygenOS 15 has a chance to remake itself of its past mistakes and turn OnePlus phones back into those that people fell in love with not only for their hardware, but also for a very special software that makes them unique.
OnePlus has already announced that OxygenOS 15 will feature AI as the main novelty to facilitate daily tasks, improve multitasking and user productivity. The brand has also announced a renewed design for the interface, adopting a minimalist style with new visual elements and animations. It seems insufficient to us, so we can’t help but think about the possible news that OnePlus is keeping in store.
Selective screen recording
One of the most used features to teach someone a process or other reasons is screen recording. OxygenOS 15 should introduce the possibility of recording only a specific part of the image in case personal data appears at any time. So you won’t have to edit later the video or anything like that.
3D lock screen customization
Brands like Samsung already have this feature, and that OxygenOS, being a layer so recognized at the time for its extensive customization options, does not have it seems like a lie to me. Users want their OnePlus phone to look unique and one of the options that attracts the most attention of users is the lock screen. Being able to customize it with 3D effects on on-screen elements in combination with the background image would be ideal with OxygenOS 15.
Change app drawer grid
I don’t understand why, but OnePlus removed the ability to configure the drawer of applications and its grid to establish a format of 5 applications per row. OxygenOS 15 should bring back this option for faster scrolling on phones that have many apps installed and it takes a long time to find a specific one.
Separate settings and notifications
Some brands already allow it for faster and more accessible control of the device. Dividing the control panel for settings and another for notifications is a good novelty for OxygenOS 15 and OnePlus phones, since by just sliding down from the left or right side of the screen you can find quick access to settings and notifications respectively, thus adapting the interface in a more accessible and minimalist way with fewer elements on the screen.
