The NVIDIA RTX 5090 will not have a significant price increase

We have been talking about the new generation of NVIDIA graphics all year, practically since it presented the second generation of the RTX 4070 and RTX 4080 at the CES held at the beginning of the year in Las Vegas. For the 2025 edition, NVIDIA will present this new range, specifically the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 models.

Based on the specs that have been leaked so far, there are many rumors that suggest that the price of the most powerful model of all, the RTX 5090, will take a significant leap compared to the RTX 4090, however, it finally seems that this will not be the case, as less based on the information that the user Kopite7kimi has published on X (Twitter).

The RTX 5090 will be a little more expensive than the RTX 4090

Last week several media outlets pointed out that the RTX 5090 could reach up to $2,500while the RTX 5080 would exceed $1,000. This information is based on mere speculation since none of the NVIDIA assemblers have released this information.

They have not released it because NVIDIA has not yet informed manufacturers about the configurations, SKUs and specifications. When the assemblers have this information, they will have to make the PCB along with the corresponding cooling measures and that will be when they will really know what the MSRP of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be.

Once we know the MSRP of the version Founder’s Edition from NVIDIA, it will be a matter of time before we know what the approximate price of both the RTX 5080 and the RTX 5090 will be, the only models that will be presented at the Las Vegas event. Some rumors suggested that the RTX 5070 could also be presented, however, there is no information or rumor to confirm this.

When the RTX 4090 arrived on the market, it did so at an MSRP of $1,599, although it can currently be found more expensive. The price of the RTX 3090 It was $1,499 ($1,999 for the RTX 3090 Ti). Taking into account that each new generation increases the price by $100, we can expect the RTX 5090 to go up to $1,699 at best.

What do we know about the RTX 5090

The data that has been leaked from the RTX 5090 and that many media outlets accept as good, suggests that the successor to the RTX 4090 will represent a significant improvement in terms of performance. The RTX 5090 uses the Blackwell GB202-300 GPU and when with 21,760 cores, which is 33% more than its processor.

As for memory, this will be the first graph with GDDR7 memory and it will have 32 GB, compared to the 24 GB of the previous generation, at 28 Gbps. The memory bus will be 512 bits and will have a consumption of 600W and will have two power connectors that will share the consumption equally, so a new range of power supplies is expected.

Regarding the RTX 5080, this is based on the GB203-400 GPUhas 10,752 cores, 16 GB of GDDR7 memory (the same amount as its predecessor) at 32 Gbps while retaining the same 256-bit memory bus. Regarding consumption, it will reach a maximum peak of 400W.

At the moment, it is still unknown what the clock speed of both models will be, just as it is also known what the L2 cache will be.
