In a few days it will be one month since the official launch of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3Done of the most coveted processors this year for the fantastic performance it performs, especially in gaming. However, try buy One of these new AMD processors has become quite an odyssey, at least in Spain, because the vast majority of stores do not have stock or, the little they have, they try to sell at exorbitant prices.
Already in the last generation we were able to see that AMD’s 3D V-Cache processors were a blow to the Lisa Su table in terms of gaming performance, so it was not surprising that the new generation had the users very eager to get one of the best gaming processors currently available.
You cannot buy the Ryzen 7 9800 X3D in Spain
Personally, I don’t know if it was due to high demand or poor foresight on the part of AMD, but what is certain is that someone has not done their homework well. The Ryzen 7 9800
AMD had to be aware, of necessity, that sales of this processor were going to skyrocket, even though it is not exactly a cheap processor (its official selling price is 530 euros), especially when there are thousands of people who usually wait for these dates to make their purchases of the year, with promotions such as Black Friday or the Christmas campaign in the making. Come on, they had to know that they were going to sell, a lot.
However, on November 8 you could no longer buy this processor in stores in Spain. There was not a single unit on store shelves, except in some online stores that began to artificially raise their price. You know, supply and demand: there is a lot of demand and few products, so they raise the price… to get rich, of course. I call that speculation, but that is a different matter that we will talk about another time.
The fact is that, clearly, AMD has not done its homework and has launched a processor that it knew with complete certainty was going to be a success, but they did not have enough units to satisfy the demand, causing something similar to what happened when NVIDIA initially launched the RTX 40 Series, or when Sony first launched the PS5: the speculation. Thus, the few stores that have some units have increased the prices to almost double (right now if you are willing to pay 800-900 euros, you could buy a Ryzen 7 9800 filled with users hoping to make a profit.
Is this a situation caused on purpose? Did AMD get its forecasts wrong? Should some incompetent person be joining the unemployment line? Personally, we think that this has been a lack of foresight, but an unjustified lack of foresight because AMD had to know, by necessity, that this processor was going to sell like candy outside a school. Anyway, judge for yourself, but what seems clear is that we will have to wait a few months to see this new Ryzen 7 9800 X3D at the right price. And this is bad for everyone.
