There is no AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D due to supply shortages

It’s the same old story, and we talked to you about it in detail last week: amd relatively recently launched the new “king of gaming”, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but trying to find it in stores, especially at the price it should be at, is almost an impossible mission. AMD has come to the fore to discuss the situation, and blames the problem on… yes, you guessed it, «supply shortage«.

For about a month now we have been talking about the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a mid-range processor (well, whose price is 500 euros, but anyway…) that according to the first analyzes was already crowned as the best gaming processor of the year , because it delivers really good performance in games. For this reason, demand for the processor has been unusually high, which has caused a lack of stock almost everywhere.

The lack of stock of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be short-lived

As we said, now the company has been forced to make an official statement, in which they basically say that they are aware of the situation and that “we are working diligently to achieve greater supply for the market, with more processors shipped every week.” . They also mention that “we expect availability to improve as shipments increase throughout the quarter,” giving us to understand that stock will improve but that it will still take some time.

The problem is that we’ve been like this for a month, with stores trying to get a cut by putting a price tag that is almost double what it should be, and with speculators trying to make a killing on second-hand sales websites.

This supposed shortage of supply (which for us personally is more the incompetence of AMD for not having foreseen the demand that this processor was going to have) has led to the usual thing: that the few who have managed to get one of these processors at their correct selling price, they are now trying to take advantage of the situation to make a profit. Above this paragraph you can see a screenshot taken from Wallapop by ourselves at this very moment, and this is just an example because there are pages and pages of these processors above their price, both there and on other sites like eBay.

But hey, AMD says that the situation will return to normal during the next quarter and we will have to believe them, although the reality is that the situation has not been normal at any time because from the moment of its launch the stock in stores flew quickly, and many of them decided to also become speculators selling these processors well above their price.

Currently, the processor can be purchased in some stores, but at a price enormously higher than it should be. And the truth is, this processor is very good, but if you have to pay €800 for it, it’s almost better to go for a higher-end model like a Ryzen 9 or an Intel Core Ultra 9, don’t you think? Anyway, let’s hope the situation is resolved soon…
