We already know the performance of the new generation of Intel laptop CPUs

During the presentation of this second generation of laptop processors, the company led by Pat Gelsinger at that time (a few days ago resigned to his position as CEO of Intel) stated that by early 2025 the range of processors would be completed with the models Core Ultra 285H and Core Ultra 225H.

Performance of Core Ultra H laptop processors

The range that is currently available on the market is the V series and, as we mentioned above, it is made up of 9 models. Within the H series, Intel will present two new models that come to the market to replace those of the first generation and, thanks to the latest leak, we already know what the performance improvement that will offer.

On this occasion, the performance tests of this new generation of processors have not appeared in Geekbench, but in Bapco, where they have been subjected to the performance test CrossMark. Although it is true that this is not the most used platform for these purposes, it allows us to calculate the difference in performance between the first and second generation.

The Core Ultra 9 285H has 16 cores and has a maximum clock speed of 5.4 GHz. It has a score of 1888 points compared to the 1701 of the Core Ultra 185H, which is a 11% performance improvement.

But, the most important improvement is found in the Core Ultra 225H. While the Core Ultra 125H scored 1502 points, the Core Ultra 225H reaches 1850, an improvement of r23% yieldvery close to the Core Ultra 285H despite having 14 cores.

Core Ultra 225H Performance

It is a change of one generation, so, although performance figures are quite good, it is not really worth making the change if we already have a device with the Core Ultra Series 1.

However, if you are planning to buy a new laptop, it is obviously advisable to opt for the new ones Core Ultra Series 2equipment that also includes Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC certification to perform security tasks. Artificial intelligence locally thanks to the NPU integrated higher than the 45 TOPS required and available from Core Ultra 256V.

Release date

It is expected that, during the 2025 CES, the blue company will officially present both models, an event in which it will also have a significant presence both NVIDIA with the new RTX50 and amd with, probably, the new RX8000.

Although this new laptop processor is officially presented at CES 2025, we will still have to wait a few months until they reach the market with the first devices, a process that, unfortunately, is delayed much longer than users expected.

Let’s hope that this time it is not like that and these new devices are available on the market before the end of the first quarter of 2025.
