This month the new Xiaomi 15 is presented in China, which promises to be one of the big launches of 2024, although, unfortunately, we will not see it in Spain until next year, as usual. In any case, this event serves as a preview about what the Xiaomi 15 will be likesince it will share almost all of its specifications if not all, and the leaks have already done their job.
As with any other smartphone as the launch approaches, the rumors have provided information about their design and features. Today we have compiled everything that is known right now about the Xiaomi 15 so that you can get an idea of the phone that is to come.
Xiaomi 15 specifications
At first glance, the Xiaomi 15 does not have major design changes compared to the previous generation. The edges seem somewhat more refined than those of the Xiaomi 14, while the rear camera has the same location despite the fact that the distribution of the lenses is different. What is noticeable in the renders of the Xiaomi 15 design is that the Screen bezels are virtually non-existent and uses a 1.5K resolution micro-curved OLED screen according to the leaks. There is not much information about the dimensions, but it is rumored that it could be identical with a size of 6.36 inches.
One of the surprises of the Xiaomi 15 lies in its processorsince all the leaks pointed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as the chipset that will take its place within the phone, although it finally seems that it will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite model from Qualcomm. This seems to have been revealed by a promotional poster that has been leaked and shows the name of the new CPU. For the battery, no major new developments are expected beyond greater energy efficiency, since the battery capacity of the Xiaomi 15 will be 5,000 mAh, as is common in high-end Android phones.
The cameras are the most important part of the Xiaomi 15 for many and to tell the truth there are not many leaks about it. Those that are available point to a 50 MP OmniVision sensor along with a Samsung JN1 sensor for the wide-angle lens and a 50 MP telephoto lens with periscopic zoom 3x magnification. The Leica seal is practically guaranteed, as well as some of the new professional video modes that have been seen on the Xiaomi 14T.
Most likely, the Xiaomi 15 is the brand’s mobile that release HyperOS 2.0 like the new version of Xiaomi’s operating system. This version will also include a extensive number of AI functions almost 100%. Nothing has been mentioned about it, although the new Xiaomi 14T has been a small preview of the possibilities that the Xiaomi 15 will offer.
Presentation date
For the moment, this is all we currently know about the Xiaomi 15, but one very important piece of information is missing that many of you will be wanting to know: its release date. Rumors indicate that the date set on the calendar by Xiaomi is located between October 21 and 23so there are 20 days or less left to take your first look at the world.
This will be the presentation date in China, although in Spain we will not see it with us until month of February 2025 if Xiaomi’s launch calendar follows the same path as in 2024. The Xiaomi 15 hopes to be one of the phones of the year and that is why its announcement causes such a stir among users.
