Google Wallet will be available to children next year, allowing them to pay in stores with just a touch and make use of other features of the app that will come in handy when it is implemented. This new option will reach devices Android starting next year thanks to Family Link.
It is one of the great novelties that await us next year, since you will be able to give access to your children to pay in stores comfortably securely and monitor transactions to make sure everything is going well. They will not be able to use the app to pay for digital games or subscriptions or app downloads or anything similar.
Regarding this, Google says the following:
Following the positive response to tap pay on Fitbit Ace LTE devices, we’re expanding tap pay for kids to Google Wallet. The new experience is designed with safety in mind and will allow parents to monitor their children’s usage, including approving new cards, easily withdrawing cards and viewing transaction history
Children will be able to pay and add passes with Google Wallet
Payments with Google Wallet They will be available next year for children who use Android phones managed by Family Link, so they can make payment transactions with just one button in stores. Of course, they will not be able to use cards saved in the app to make online payments. In order to authenticate NFC payments, a password, PIN, fingerprint or facial recognition is necessary, making this action more secure.
Not only will they be able to pay in stores with mobile phones or watches that have Google Wallet, but they will also be able to add event tickets or gift cards. For example, to carry your tickets to a children’s event or show comfortably without fear of losing or forgetting them. At the moment, they will not be able to add health cards or ID cards, at least on the launch date of the new Wallet function.
Parents must approve each debit or credit card added to the phone and they will also be able to view recent transaction history and remotely delete the card or block passes through the Family Link app. Children will take advantage of the function to pay for what they need at the time, without having to ask for a Bizum or money. It will be a good way to introduce children to finances and let them have a certain ‘financial independence’.
When will payments for children arrive in Spain?
This new feature will be available next year for some Google Wallet users in some countriesalthough it will later be expanded over time to more countries with the idea of reaching all mobile phones in all regions. We don’t know when will it arrive in Spainwhether it will be at the time of launch or after a few weeks or months, but we know that the implementation will be gradual from 2025 onwards.
It is being tested and will be launched with security as a primary element. Therefore it will not be available in all countries at the same time and we may have to wait a little longer. As time goes by, we do not doubt that new functions and improvements will be implemented.
